Many burglars will spend no longer than 60 seconds trying to break into a home. Good locks - and good neighbors who watch out for each other - can be big deterrents to burglars. First of all, MAKE YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD UNATTRACTIVE TO CRIMINALS

Know your neighbors. Exchange phone numbers and know what cars they drive. This will help you be more likely to recognize people and vehicles that may be suspicious. Join a Neighborhood Watch group. If one doesn't exist, you can start one. Click here for more information.

If you can get into your home easily, so can a burglar! Never hide a key outside your home. Instead, give a spare key to a neighbor that you trust.  And always lock doors and windows, even if you are just going out for a few minutes. Thieves can work very quickly.

Don’t give burglars a place to hide! Cut back bushes so they don’t hide doors or windows. Intruders hate bright lights. KEEP OUTSIDE LIGHTS ON AT NIGHT!

As always --  be alert, be aware and CALL US if something appears suspicious. If you come home and something looks questionable such as slit screen, a broken window or an open door - don't go in and risk surprising a burglar. Leave immediately and call 911.
